San Francisco Bay’s first Golden gate bridge and national park is to open on June 1 at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. Cavallo Point, the Lodge at the Golden Gate (www.cavallopoint.com), is in Fort Baker, a military post established in 1897 and part of the Golden Gate National Parks.

The property is set among rolling hills with bay and bridge views. There will be 142 rooms and suites, with 68 of them in National Historic Landmark buildings and 74 in new buildings. All suites will have organic bedding and linens, Wi-Fi access and flat-screen televisions.

The lodge’s Healing Arts Center and Spa will have 12 treatment rooms, a heated basking pool and a medicinal herb garden, where guests can pick their own ingredients for treatments. The restaurant will serve French-inspired California cuisine and will have a 13,000-bottle wine cellar.

The property will also serve as the home for the Institute at the Golden Gate, an environmental organization that is a project of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and the National Park Service. Nightly rates will start at about $250. Go to top
